About the Author

The AuthorHi, my name is Michael! I am twenty-one years old and live in the U.S. state of Connecticut.

I am a student at Eastern Connecticut State University, studying for a Bachelor of Science in Communications, with a concentration in television production. Most of my experience in this field has been with newscasting, where I have dabbled to various depths in just about everything, with my main strengths situated behind the camera, behind control room equipment, or behind a linear or non-linear editor. My areas of experience have grown, however.  Since starting college, I’ve also participated in the creation of documentary about the town in which my college resides, and also participate in the campus’ television club TV 22, where I have previously been its Treasurer and one of the directors, and am now the Executive Producer of a pop-culture oriented game show.

On a related note, in my Senior year of high school, I got myself involved a fun project where members of the news club got together to create a short film in which I had my first, not-so-great acting experience (although I am told I did great, so my judgment clearly is the result of my perfectionist personality). So, where am I going in the future? Not quite sure, but I can often be spotted watching the History Channel, so do not be surprised if I am someday presenting work I’ve done in Athens, Rome, South America, or somewhere else right here at Dymersion!

When I am not in back of the camera, or taking my shy steps toward the front of it, I can probably be found in front of a computer. I am part of the Management Team of Invisionize, one of the largest resource websites for the Invision Power Board message board system. Aside from that website, I also have a keen interest in managing websites and forums in general, and I currently also maintain the websites for TV 22 and my father’s eBay consignment business.

I also have an interest in computers in general, thanks to my father’s nearly 14 years in the industry, although our expertises vary; his more geared toward hardware, and mine toward software. I also enjoy reading, my favorite genre being fantasy, and my two favorite series being that of “Harry Potter” and “Lord of the Rings” (in order of preference).   Film-wise, my favorite movie series is Star Wars, with my all-time favorite movie being Return of the Jedi. My fantasy and sci-fi picks do not stop at reading and film, but reach into television. My favorite television series is Battlestar Galactica, although I have recently started getting into Stargate: SG1 and Atlantis. I also watch 24, and the CSIs and Without a Trace. Also, don’t forget about the History Channel.

I’m not the healthiest guy out there, and I don’t mean in diet or hygiene.  Apart from having the very well known chronic disease of Asthma, I also have the less known Crohn’s Disease, which is an Inflammatory Bowel Disease.  I’ve had Asthma for years, since I was young, but I’ve only had Crohn’s since the Summer of 2005.  It’s been a struggle for me, but I’ve managed to keep it relatively under control thus far.  I’m hopeful that I’ll see a cure for both within my lifetime.

Overall, I am just a simple guy trying to find my way in life. I am hoping (and finding) that college is re-enforcing some of the plans I made for myself starting in my Sophomore year of high school, and I am happy that five years later, I am still on the same track.
